Answers to common questions about setup, VAT handling, Stripe refunds, and what MyInventar is (and isn’t).

Does it work with my barcode scanner?

Yes — most USB/Bluetooth scanners act like a keyboard. You click the scan field and scan; the app processes the barcode.

Are prices stored ex VAT or inc VAT?

Prices are stored excl. VAT (VAT-aware), but you can enter excl./incl. VAT and it auto-converts with live hints.

Can I track why stock went out?

Yes. Stock-out transactions can require a channel/reason (Amazon, Ebay, Damaged, etc.) and reports can filter by channel.

Why don’t I see refunds in Stripe sometimes?

Refunds only exist for successful payments (PaymentIntent/Charge succeeded). “Payment method saved” isn’t a paid order. Webhooks must be delivering for accurate status.

Is MyInventar full accounting software?

No. It’s stock + orders + basic revenue/refund visibility. For full accounting (MTD VAT returns, bank reconciliation, ledgers), use Xero/FreeAgent/QuickBooks, etc.

Can you customize it?

Yes — multi-location stock, low stock alerts, extra exports, custom fields, integrations, or a mobile scanning app can be added.
